Sculpture Garden Opening in the Artpark Gallery
Wednesday, May 7th, 7 pm.
Upper austrian artists Arnold Pichler, Manfred Schöller and Erwin Reiter inaugurated the sculpture garden in the summer of 2006. It is has been growing constantly
and rapidly ever since. Many artists have been invited to showcase their newest artworks there and participate in the sculpture garden project.
The keen diversity of numerous artworks and various approaches in implementing imagination and reality has generated an interesting and
always rewarding art open space. Visitors are able to steep in the multilayered world of contemporary art. The exhibited sculptures are
not only constrasting blatantly with another, they’re simply standing out in the exceptional surroundings of the show at the same time.
The sculpture garden is incorporated in an expanding urban landscape between the Lenaupark area and the skyline of the Citytower.
It is located on top of the lenaupark City shopping mall. Enjoy the new, tangible and time- outlasting beauty of the art garden at your leisure.
Sculpture Park: Arnold Pichler, Gerhard Wünsche, Manfred Schöller, Erwin Reiter, Robert Mittringer, Willi Kern, Christoph Luckeneder, Koutek Manfred, Manfred Kielnhofer, Othmar Steiner, Nitram Martin Stockinger, Der Steiner (Othmar Steiner), Carlos Michael Anglberger.

Salone del Mobile 2008 – FuoriSalone event
Maòli has expanded its collection of unconventional furnishings with a new product that is the result of
cooperation with designer Alessandro Loschiavo. After the much-talked-about success of the Walking Family
series, presented for the first time last year in Paris and that recently received the Good Design Award
from The Chicago Athenaeum museum, it adds to the family of surrealistic objects inspired by the nature
of the African savannah. This time in particular, the stimulus came from the observation of certain wading
birds that habitually live along the shores of the great lakes in equatorial Africa. Their tall, slender legs
and cautious, measured movement as they advance in shallow waters were the cues that quite influenced
the shaping of the
MARABÙ
a side table, made entirely in Mahogany or Rose heartwoods and composed of a flat teardrop-shaped top,
two obtuse-angled legs and circular base. The legs are substantially equal to thus cut wastage to the minimum
in the wood-working phase, and are fixed to the top and base with a slight rotation of one with respect
to the other. The result is an “ornitho-morphic” object that effectively recalls a wading bird (like the marabou
stork) caught as if walking in a pond

Massimo Conti Fine Art Photography
Born in Italy on 1967. Photographer from 1990.
Conti has an amazing ability and mastery in the use of light and shadow as well as an excellent sensibility in the composition of the feminine figure.
His approach to the study of grace, softness, sensuality, simplicity and the spirit as intertwined with nature is pure passion.
He says that his primary source of inspiration is nature. This statement comes at no surprise at all since in many of his anthropomorphic figures and fine art works we find different traces of nature: cliffs, stones, woods, shells and the sea are major elements that everything is composed with extreme rigor and care for details; perhaps his true art is simply in the placement of the models since they often become authentic, beautiful, exquiste living sculptures during the shooting session.
The singularity of his work is in the originality of his forms and it is interesting to note that, although we are 150 years beyond the birth of photography there are still artists able to create new shapes and new emotions.

IveGotBeats.com launches the Beat XChange allowing producers to sell their music online to artists, auction style.
New York, NY - January 24, 2008 -- From Wall Street to Watts, the digital curve is revolutionizing the landscape of the music industry. In a climate of slumping compact disc sales and rising digital sales, one web site is poised to lead the digital renaissance.

The Beat XChange has positioned itself to alleviate the traditional record label AR process by directly connecting the artist and the producer. This cutting edge web site is making it simple for artists and producers all over the world to collaborate with each other right from the comfort of their own computer.

The Beat XChange is the premier online beat auction allowing producers to place their original beats/tracks/compositions online for artists to hear and place bids on. Much in the same fashion as e-bay, the auction floor is opened for artists to place bids until an offer is accepted by the producer.

Gerald Olivari, said Recognizing the impact that technology such as pro tools and social music networking websites have had on the industry, we decided that it was the perfect time to introduce this service.

The Beat XChange is the world's best online beat auction. Begin collaborating now!

Blue Note Records
On February 12, Blue Note Records will release Droppin’ Science, a unique collection of the legendary label’s classic late 60s through mid-70s jazz-funk tracks, all of which have featured prominently as samples in some of the greatest hip hop cuts of the late 80s, 90s and beyond. Hip hop artists ranging from Dr. Dre to the Beastie Boys and A Tribe Called Quest have sampled Blue Note grooves by such jazz greats as Lou Donaldson, Grant Green, Donald Byrd, and Lonnie Smith. All of these original Blue Note tracks have been compiled for the first time on Droppin’ Science, which Blue Note will release as a 10-track CD, a 13-track digital album and vinyl LP, as well as individual ring-tunes that are based on the exact sampled loop.
Little known to most of the general public, Blue Note is home to some of the most widely used samples in the history of hip hop. Sampling and the use of breakbeats has been the foundation of hip hop since its advent in the late 70s; yet, during the late 80s artists began looking for the first time into the world of jazz for new and creative sources of music. Blue Note’s extensive catalog quickly became the go-to location for innovative groove based samples. What resulted was an explosion of classic hip hop tracks featuring Blue Note jazz. This explosion is best experienced in the music of A Tribe Called Quest, who used 4 out of the 10 tracks on Droppin’ Science in numerous groundbreaking classics

about granulation:
This is a technique used in ancient gold work and involved soldering little golden spheres, known as grains, onto a background, generally foil, following a predetermined pattern. When the grains reach microscopic proportion – ones as small as 0,1 mm in diameter have been measured – the same technique is given the name of “dust”. This is a one of the most complex and fascinating techniques in the jeweller’s craft and is one of the most disputed at the same time. This is because opinions regarding the application methods are disparate and conflicting and the various hypotheses formulated today have not yet provided reliable concrete results in experimental conditions. To proceed in order, there are essentially two problems regarding the working methods used by artists in the past which have been debated at length by scholars

New Earthship Coffee Table Book
Plants of various types and species once covered the planet. Their existence made the planet more. They contributed to - they were - the nature of the planet. Now, it is humanity that is becoming the nature of the planet. There is a major difference. Plants have a way of unconsciously and continuously making the planet better for themselves and other creatures. Humans have a way of consciously and continuously making the planet worse for themselves - and for plants and other creatures.
My reaction to this is that, the more we interact with and learn from plants and the Earth, the more we will learn about our own survival. Our life methods must evolve to be more like those of planets. Intelligence or not, plants have it together on the Earth - we don't

Scrawl Collective is known for pioneering a doodley, scratchy style of urban art that today has
many adherents and can be seen everywhere from street art to mainstream advertising. While
remaining true to these roots, Scrawl has expanded over the years picking up new artists along
the way and developing the breadth and scope of their work as they go. Scrawl Collective has
built up a formidable global reputation for its live art and installation shows and a ready market
for its paintings and prints

Features Ro Rao and The Aliens in Laika
Zune announces the release of the next video in the Zune Arts series entitled Laika, which brings together the New York based director
Ro Rao and the sounds from the Scottish band The Aliens.
Set fifty years ago, Russia launches a rocket manned by a dog into space and soon loses contact with the vessel.
The character dog named Laika soon discovers a dog utopia filled with many dog treasures, but quickly realizes
that these treasures are worthless without her friends. An endearing, intergalactic tale at just how far one will
go to share with friends, the film concludes with a grand gesture of friendship -sharing dog bones.
The film is set to the extravagant, acid-drenched pop of I Am the Unknown, a track from the 2007 full-length Astronomy
for Dogs by The Aliens, a band that evolved from the critically acclaimed Beta Band.
The soundtrack completes the artistic vision of Ro Rao, whose previous work with Ugly
Pictures has been honored at a dozen of film festivals including the Tribeca Film Festival,
D AD and Annecy, and has been written up in Creativity, Entertainment Weekly and Rolling Stone.
The new video follows in the footsteps of other creative artist collaborations which have
included Cary Godbey and Maps, SSSR and M Ward, and againstallodds and The Deadly Syndrome.

New digital mixed media - Barrick Museum in Las Vegas [ USA ] 1/25 - 3/21
S.K.James is the founder of Digital Mixed Media Studios and Gallery in Reno, Nevada, and he helped originate the term "digital mixed media" - a combination of digital media with any other media, electronic or organic, in any form.

James recently published Ride, a book of his poetry paired with images from a variety of well-known artists and designers including David Byrne, David Carson and Chas Ray Krider.

James' own visual work is increasingly based in digital photorealistic montage, often utlilizing layered elements of original and acquired photographs combined with paint and other materials. James has recently begun to work in video editing and production as well.

James maintains a state of the art studio, and creates archival quality images on canvas and a variety of art papers on an Epson 9800 large format giclee quality printer.

James was born in St. Louis, Missouri. He studied as a fellowship student of Mandarin Chinese in Taipei, Taiwan before he received his B.A. in philosophy, magna cum laude. He then studied international law in London at the University of Notre Dame's London campus before he received his law degree from Washington University in St. Louis. He also studied as an M.F.A. student of creative writing at the University of Montana in Missoula, Montana (until winter came). James has lived in Northern Nevada for nearly 20 years.

James became serious about producing visual art approximately five years ago. His work has been seen on the Internet throughout the world, including on Helyn Davenport's acclaimed digital art gallery. In May 2007 he exhibited works on canvas in the ancient walled city of Naarden, south of Amsterdam, for the FotoFestival Naarden Festival-OFF, and in June 2007 he became one of the original occupants of the groundbreaking Dada Motel exhibit centered at the historic El Cortez Hotel in downtown Reno. In July 2007 James opened his studio as a gallery for Reno Artown for the first time for a one-day exhibit entitled "Electronic Frontiers: Nevada Realities and Abstractions."

Midnight in Vegas, James' 15-foot panorama on canvas, will be exhibited January 25 - March 21, 2008 at the Barrick Museum in Las Vegas
