Jose Barbosa, the landscape and the formulation of the compositivo control
Jose Barbosa approaches the landscape from different techniques, from the watercolor, happening through the oil to the pie, assembling a specially suggestive speech in the most linear sense of the term. Suggestive because he looks for and he experiments with the color until he finds the image most appropriate ideal to communicate the spectator. He is not a painter of first Vista, but a elucubrador artist, who goes beyond the circumstances.
He does not limit himself to catch the details, the referential routes, but that part of this approach to its own pictorial necessities adapts. The result is a work dominated by the technique, using the color to embroider a certain psychic state, assembling it with the necessities that to him the own landscape communicates.
Although part of a reference of the determined reality, its intention is to surpass it, to advance there much more of the limitations, the contradictions in themselves, to end at a personal exposition, in which the austerity arranges with its clear and decided will in being able to surpass the conditioners of a figurative concession.
Although he is a painter which it leaves from references, that the reality considers, the circumstances like the light, clarity, shade, perspective and hour of the day, soon, in the later development of his work, modifies these circumstances, in the sense that its work is product of its imagination, although has the inescapable references with the configuration of the moment. Its painting of landscape is based on the synthesis, in the suppression of details, the elimination of accidental circumstances, to end at a controlled, glamurosa composition in the most chromatic sense of the term, to show with iron will, almost of military discipline its plastic contributions.
