As the Oscars®
soon come upon us I have been to a lot of films to know the haps of the Actors that will be up for Oscars in the pictures they were in as well as the movie for Best Picture and Best Actor, Actress and Best Supprting Actor and Actress and Director as well.
Yesterday I went to see
Blood Diamond
Leonardo DiCaprio is up for Best Actor in this role I really think he's done well in both the films he was in this year and for Best Supporting Actor,
Djmon Hounsou was also amazing in this film and he too is up for an Oscar, this is a good movie to see, lots of action and if your into bullets,
guns and granads this is the movie to see. There is a lesson to be learned in this film but I won't give it away because it's the ending.
Other films I have seen are:
The Queen
It is so realistic to life you truly believe this acting job
Helen Mirren who won The Globe for her talent in playing a living universally known figure as well as she did.
Her portrayel of Queen the 2 is marveloulous. She is up for Best Actress in this role at the Oscars. As well the Director is up for his Directing in The Queen.
As for the story line it was a bit boring having already read and watched it all on t.v. the story is the real life story, didn't give much unknown details a few thou.
Mostly your mezmorized by the acting job of Helen Mirren that's what makes you believe your watching a biography.
It's a decent movie if your into the monarchy and the rehash of an old story retold.
The Last King of Scotland
Forest Whitiker who won a Globe for Best Actor already, in this film he's up for the Oscar in the same category he was real good in this role as
Ugandan dictator Idi Amin his fierce portrayel pulls you into the sometimes hardcore violence of the film.
Yet it carries along with it some funny, warm moments. It's worth seeing.
These films above are more dramatic films. I rented
Little Miss Sunshine
I really, really liked this film and it's up for an Oscar as well for Best Picture. It's a road trip comedy about a dysfunctional family.
There's one of the Actors up for Best Supporting
Alan Arkin who plays the grandfather dirty old man and herion addict.
Abigail Breslin 10 years old is up for an Oscar the 4th youngest Actress Nominated.
She palys a girl obsessed with beauty pagents. This is a funny different subject film worth seeing. It's perfect in the way it was made to to look imperfect.
Oh go see
The Departed
With
Jack Nickelson,
Leonardo DiCaprio,
Matt Damon and
Mark Wahlberg are all real good mobsters vs. the police, good guys vs./bad guys movie there's a lot of blood and loads of swearing but it's good.
Martin Scorsese is up for Best Director in this film.
Up for Best Supporting Actor is
Mark Wahlberg as a sarcastic cop with his stealing performance outshining his higher billed co-stars like
DiCaprio, Jack Nickelson and Matt Damon. This movie brings out Scorsese's trademark style like that of Goodfelleas if you like that film you'll like this one too.
Other movies I've seen are:
Pursuit of Happiness
Will Smith is real good in this role. He plays a homeless dad caring for his son. Will shows a sensetive acting side of himself in this film he shows us a
diverse performance from his regular type roles. I liked this movie beacuse it was about a family with real troubles that could happen to any one in tough times
it is something to
think about if you were in need of money what would you do? It is a inspiring movie. It's filmed in one of my favorite cities San Francisco.
This is worth seeing a true feel good movie in the end.
Dreamgirls
This is a marvelous musical with
Jennifer Hudson, who's up for Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role in this movie stealing the scenes with her soulful singing it made the audience
I was with that day clap loudly in the theater after her solo. A wonderful Musical. I really liked Jennifer's show stopping solo and the movie is a good ride
through all the bands drama.
Eddie Murphy also up for Best Supporting Actor in his role in this movie he sweeps away the movie with his singing talent that has been hidden for so long now.
Good luck to both singers/Actors.
The Devil Wears Prada
Is a great gotta Hate the boss film about fashion.
Meryl Streep is real good in her role in this high fashion behind the scenes film.
Meryl Streep is up for another Oscar, Best Actress she's already won two and is the most nomited Actress to date.
I liked the transformation of one of the office girls from office duck to swan as she gets more into her working position
and dealings with Miss Bitchy Boss Meryl Streep. Great look at fashion and styles.
On the more lighter side of things to go see is in the Animation area are the movies:
Happy Feet
It is a funny, happy, sad and all around good feeling movie about Penguins this is up for Oscar as Best picture in Animation and I'm hoping it wins.
It has a good music soundtrack that keeps you dancing in your seat. And it proves that there's a place for everyone in this world. The characters of penguins are real to life.
Cars
Is another animation movie is CARS which (for me) started off slow, very slow but ended up real good the cartoon figures themselves were well done.
Each car had it's own flair.
And the film was done in brilliant computer graphics. Also up for an Oscar for Best Animated film.
The movies above are not in order of favorites.
I still want to see:
Babel,
Letters from Ima Jima,
Notes on A Scandel,
Half Nelson,
Venus, and Little Children, these are all up for Oscars in different categories.
Well this is Lori Schy on her latest scoop on movies. Have a terrific day/night. Peace
