Fussible of Nortec Collective will bring his live set into Scott Arford's Static Room, creating a fusion of static video noise with infectious norteño grooves; High Tech and Low Tech meet again through this audio visual performance. Fussible lands on Swift Gallery after having performed at such venues as the Hollywood Bowl and the Hammer Museum. Last works of Mario Eremita
National Gallery of Sofia - III Millennium Art Gallery, Venice IT
Mario Eremita is one of the few in the contemporary art outline. His paintings work out contradditions of human existence and condition. Without relaxations or weaknesses to give up to inane fancies. Main themes deal with the Human Events and are based on introspection and self-analysis that, from the individual spreads to the whole community. That themes dwell upon the harshness and contradictions of life, the alienation, the reason's dulling, the high human aspiration's corruption and are contrasted with femininity as renewer shape, with erotism as cathartic mystic rite, with obssession of love through the universally comprehensible expression of art. Always alive and present the inner research; it is rich of tormented youthness memories and of love for great italian contemporary poetry. In fact Tonino Guerra, Federico Fellini, Pier Paolo Pasolini, Giuseppe Ungaretti are main cultural landmarks for Eremita.
among Authorities will be present: Prime Minister of Bulgary Simeone II Coburgo Gotha, Hon. Antonia Parvanova Member of Bulgarian Parliament, Hon. First American Art: The Charles and Valerie Diker Collection of American Indian Art

First American Art: The Charles and Valerie Diker Collection of American Indian Art celebrates the rich aesthetic traditions of North American Indians through a series of concepts that define the aesthetic realm in Native American art. The key concepts – ideas, emotion, movement, integrity, intimacy, composition, and vocabulary--were chosen at a recent gathering of Native and non-Native artists and scholars, and are used in examining this extraordinary collection. The works included here, from many tribal traditions across Canada and the United States, are manifestations of the cultures from which they spring. They add individual or tribal points of view to an already diverse body of scholarship on the subject of Indians. Various perspectives interpret an art object as commodity, artifact, specimen, heirloom, objet d’art, treasured cultural heritage, or sacred emblem. This book attempts to answer the question, What would be the Native perspective? ... [ read more ] >>

Christo and Jeanne-Claude: The Gates, Central Park, New York
The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York

Christo and Jeanne-Claude: The Gates, Central Park, New York Christo and Jeanne-Claude are renowned for their dramatic and innovative public projects. Their installations often feature fabric - sometimes wrapped around existing structures or used to create large-scale temporary environments. Some of their most influential projects include Running Fence in Sonoma and Marin Counties, California, Surrounded Islands in Miami, the Pont Neuf Wrapped in Paris, the Wrapped Reichstag in Berlin, and The Umbrellas simultaneously in Japan and California. Now New York City, where they have lived and worked for forty years, will be the site for a much-anticipated Christo and Jeanne-Claude project. The Gates will consist of saffron-colored fabric panels suspended from the horizontal tops of over 7,500 sixteen-foot-tall vinyl gates, positioned at regular intervals throughout 23 miles of walkways of Central Park. The installation will be on view for sixteen days, beginning February 12, 2005 (weather permitting). This book, published in conjunction with a major exhibition that opens in April 2004 at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, celebrates the culmination of the artists' vision for The Gates, a project that began in 1979. It includes an illustrated introduction by Jonathan Fineberg that surveys the career of Christo and Jeanne-Claude and assesses their contribution to contemporary art and culture. The heart of the book consists of beautiful reproductions of the various preparatory collages and drawings that Christo has created for The Gates project, many of which have not been previously published, and detailed documentation of the personalities and events that have led up to the project. This volume also features four highly engaging, unpublished interviews conducted by Fineberg with the artists, from the 1970s to a recent interview of July 2003.

Chelsea Art Museum
556 West 22nd Street, at 11th Avenue
New York City

Convergence: The Collision of Physical & Virtual Space in Digital Art New York, NY - Convergence: The Collision of Physical and Virtual Space in Digital Art, is a pioneering collaborative exhibition of cutting-edge artists curated by Studio IMC, a new media design and artist management studio. The show opens Thursday, June 3 with a reception from 6-9pm and runs through June 19. Museum visitors can “meet the artists” in an informal discussion of their work on Saturday, June 5, 1-2pm. Convergence is an exhibition where new media art and communications technology challenge traditional concepts of portraiture, art, and gallery space. Convergence tells of a new role for technology in contemporary art, one where the boundaries are blurred between old and new media and between digital and physical realms. In the traditional museum and gallery setting the visitor is an observer who is physically separated .. [ read more ] >>

Meryl Streep and The Culture Project present...
Sarah Jones Bridge and Tunnel is the story of the American Dream as seen through the personas of fourteen characters, each with a distinct voice. A charismatic male Pakistani accountant, a Chinese mother adjusting to her daughter¹s alternative lifestyle, and a young Latina with a quick wit and an even faster tongue are but a few of Jones¹s gallery of characters. This chorus of voices emanates from the reaches of New York¹s boroughs with origins far beyond the city¹s limits.
Written and Performed by Sarah Jones. Directed by Tony Taccone.
