Encirrcling the barrel of the pen is the depiction of the ultimate struggle between a hawc and a snake,whic although mortally wounded by the hawk carries an egg to safety in an extreme gesture symbolic of the continuation of life and its renewal.The "Sceptrum" pen is created by Paolo Cerrini,and have a ruby set in the jaws of the snake.
