The four categories of art I create
are sculpture, art quilts, wearable art and wall hangings. I use a variety of techniques to form my art: off-loom weaving, metalsmithing, hand/machine quilting, hand/machine sewing, embroidery, bead work, silk painting, staining, natural/synthetic dying, batik, vat dying, wire wrapping and photo transfers – just to name a few.
There are many layers of content in my artwork. The physical content of each piece involves the materials that are used, mostly textiles and metal, to create varying and contradicting textures. The philosophical/academic content of each piece reflects a strong interest in ancient cultures, literature, music, religion, history and Feminism. The final layer is personal. My artwork is the vehicle through which I communicate my feelings and experiences – a tangible expression of myself
