The Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC)

www.iaacat.com - is an international centre of education and research focused in architecture understood
as a discipline that involve different scales from territorial analysis, urban developments,
architectural projects, digital fabrications and informational environments.
Placed in Barcelona -
www.bcn.es -, one of the international capitals of Urbanism,
the institution develops a multidisciplinary program that explores urban and international territorial
phenomena placing the accent in the opportunities that emerges from developing countries and cultural,
economic and social values that architecture may contribute to society.
Some of the most important projects recently developed are The Media House Project,
elaborated with the MIT's Media Lab -
www.media.mit.edu -, the territorial research project Hipercatalunya -
www.hipercatalunya.org -, featured in Macba Barcelona, and the Transamericana project performed in Brazil.
The IAAC extends educative programs linked to the Advanced Architecture Master, leaded by Vicente Guallart -
www.guallart.com - and Manuel Gausa, in collaboration with the Fundación Politecnica de Catalunya -
www.fundacio.upc.edu -
In addition to research programs and international projects the agenda is completed with lectures,
excursions, exhibitions, publications and competitions.

the Master of Advanced architecture topic is Fast Asia / Asia 2005-2006: ?Fast economic growth vs. fast city growth in Asia?. The program ends with an Excursion for all students supported by the IAAC to the area of study, this year, a country of Asia.
